Stein's writing style is characterized by its use of repetition, fragmentation, and stream of consciousness. She was particularly interested in exploring the nature of identity and the relationship between language and reality. Stein's most famous works include the novel "The Making of Americans" (1925), the play "Four Saints in Three Acts" (1927), and the short story "The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas" (1933).
In addition to her writing, Stein was also a passionate art collector. She and Toklas amassed a collection of over 200 works by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, and Juan Gris. Stein's collection was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in 1934 and has since been dispersed among various museums and private collections.
Stein died in Paris in 1946. She is considered one of the most important and influential figures in American literature and art of the 20th century.
